Test methods and scoring
Both tests explore abstract reasoning through visual matrices: identify relationships between shapes and complete the missing figure. Each has its own items and scoring method.
OMIB matrix reasoning
22 constructed-response items, untimed; allow about 30 minutes. Answer in order and revise previous answers. Leaving or refreshing ends the attempt. Time does not affect the score.
Items come from the Open Matrices Item Bank (OMIB). The IQ Exact method uses two-parameter item response theory (2PL IRT) and expected a posteriori estimation (EAP), accounting for item difficulty, discrimination and responses to produce an IQ estimate.
Raven matrices test
60 multiple-choice questions in five series A–E, with a 20-minute limit. You may revise answered questions; all questions must be completed within 20 minutes or the test fails and no score is generated. Leaving or refreshing ends the attempt.
The Open RPM project method counts correct answers, then applies interpolation and an age adjustment to produce an IQ estimate. We have not independently validated this method; estimates may be substantially inaccurate and are not official Raven standard scores. A–E results are counts of correct answers, not five independent cognitive abilities.
Understanding your results
An IQ estimate reflects performance on these matrix reasoning tasks, not a comprehensive clinical intelligence assessment. OMIB parameters are based on German medical-school applicants, not age-stratified general-population norms; model credible intervals do not guarantee accuracy.
